Please join the South Cariboo conversation on all things related to our foodshed. This listserv offered through the B.C. Food Systems Network can serve as an excellent vehicle to sustain a dialogue on all local food issues and the many issues surrounding this critically important aspect of our community.
To join, an individual or organization just has to submit a subscription request found at this web address: http://bcfsn.org/mailman/listinfo/100milefood_bcfsn.org. While the current volume of postings is minimal, we hope to expand both the membership and the flow of information and commentary. If e-mail volume is an issue, you can elect to batch all correspondence into one daily file.

FYI, our NDP is focussing on food security this time around (provincials). The networking part is important because there is a lot we can just START DOING. All we need are vendors and customers. But I'd like to go into the supermarkets (independent ones or the chains) and find food/meat from my area. I'd like a store front facility where I can go to purchase exclusively local food. I'd like to see value-added products made from our local food at that store front. When I buy a roast I want to know who's cow it was. Etc. I think there is a good momentum behind this initiative right now, so in getting people who are already networking to hook up, we have some teeth.
